Monthly reporting (against keywords, rankings & Map Pack actions)

1. Retail Demand & Competitor Audit

We research and find what shoppers in your towns actually type, who owns the Map Pack, and who owns the category and product results. You get a gap list you can read and see where you can lead.

2. Retail Keyword Research (Product + Category + Town)

We map three search types: “[store type] near me,” category terms like “oak dining table,” and product terms like model names. High-intent retail searches go first.

3. Google Business Profile & Map Pack Optimisation

We optimise or rebuild each real store listing: primary category, description, photos, products, and the website URL that should rank. Google’s own consumer research has long shown a complete, verified listing is about 2.7x more likely to be trusted.

4. Category, Products, Hours, & Attributes

We set the primary category based on what you actually sell, load products on the profile, and keep hours and attributes accurate. Wrong hours and the wrong category can bring ranking problems later on.

5. Review Generation & Review Reply

We install a review ask after a sale and reply like a human, not a template, because reviews are a very important local ranking factor. Many third-party reports found that more than 80% of consumers read local reviews, more than 55% will only use a business rated four stars or higher, and almost 35% will not use a business with fewer than 20 reviews.

6. NAP & Citation Cleanup

We make your name, address, and phone number identical on the site, Google Business Profile, data aggregators, and local directories. Old mall units and old numbers get suppressed so Google’s algorithm doesn’t get confused and stop splitting your listing.

7. Store/Location Page SEO

Every real store gets its own page with matching NAP, hours, and LocalBusiness schema, linked from that store’s Google Business Profile because Google ranks locations.

8. Category & Collection Page SEO

We turn thin collections into pages that match how people search: “women’s trail running shoes,” “oak dining tables,” “organic dog food [city]” because category pages rank for searches a single product page cannot.

9. Product Page SEO

We replace manufacturer copy, fix variant URLs, and write unique titles and descriptions on the products that can rank. If every retailer uses the same brand PDF, Google has no reason to pick your page.

10. On-Page SEO

Titles, H1s, meta descriptions, internal links, and image alt text on store, category, and product pages. One H1. Titles that match the search. Links from strong pages to the pages you want to rank.

11. Technical SEO for Retail Websites

We fix crawl waste, duplicate product URLs, broken canonicals, junk filter pages, slow templates, and store locators Google cannot read. Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, BigCommerce, or custom. If Google cannot crawl the page, it cannot rank the page.

12. LocalBusiness & Product Schema

We add structured data so Google can read the store, the product, and the service: name, address, hours, price, availability, and reviews. This is how our pages become eligible for rich results in Google Search.

13. Photo SEO for Stores and Products

We name, compress, and add alt text to store and product images so pages stay fast and images can rank in Google Search and Maps. Real shop-floor photos beat generic stock all the time.

14. Google Posts and Q&A

We post on each Google Business Profile and answer public Q&A so the listing looks active. Recency on GBP is a local SEO signal.

15. Local Links & Retail Mentions

We earn links and mentions from chambers, shopping districts, local publishers, suppliers, and brand store-locator pages. No PBNs. Relevant local links help Maps and organic.

16. Conversion Work (Click-to-Call, Forms, Speed)

We make ranked pages intuitive and usable on a phone: tap-to-call, tap-for-directions, fast load, visible hours. A ranking that lands on a broken page does not get the visit.

17. Call, Form, & GBP Action Tracking

We connect Search Console, GA4, and Google Business Profile insights so you can see which queries and which stores produced calls, direction requests, and website clicks.

18. AI/Google Overview Visibility (GEO Support)

We structure pages and entity data so Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, and Gemini can cite your store and your products.

19. Monthly Report (Against Rankings and Map Pack Actions)

You get a 100% transparent monthly report about: Map Pack actions by store, organic landing pages, ranking movement, and the SEO work we did and what we’ll do next.

  • Retail SEO Company Services

Retail Businesses Our SEO Services Are For

Marketing agency Sorted ROI's image on the service page about SEO Agency for Retail showing many types of Retailer clientele on sortedroi.com website

Quick Answer: Our SEO Agency for Retail works for retailers who want to rank on Google Search and Google Maps, whether you have one shop, twenty stores, or an online catalog. If a shopper can type what you sell, we can build the pages and profiles that rank for that search.

We are the #1 SEO Agency for Retail, and each type of store below gets its own keywords, strategy, and store-specific approach.

Brick-and-Mortar Stores

image | seo agency for retail

As a Retail SEO Company, we build/rebuild your Google Business Profile, store page, and category pages so you rank for “[your category] near me.”

Multi-Location Retail Chains

image 1 | seo agency for retail

We give each of your stores its own page, profile, and reviews. We do not rank your homepage in every city. An SEO Agency for Retail ranks locations.

Omnichannel Retailers (Store + Site)

image 7 | seo agency for retail

We tie your Map Pack listing to the store page, then rank the category and product pages for the catalog you also sell on the site.

Ecommerce & Catalog Retailers

image 8 | seo agency for retail

As your Search Engine Optimization Agency for Retail, we replace duplicate manufacturer copy, fix category architecture, and add Product schema so your catalog can rank.

Fashion & Apparel Stores

image 9 | seo agency for retail

As your Retail SEO Agency, we build collection pages for size, fit, and season, plus store pages for your “near me” searches, so you rank on those search queries.

Grocery, Specialty Food, & Bottle Shops

image 10 | seo agency for retail

We set your hours and categories on the profile so you rank for “open now” and “[town] grocery” in the local pack. Wrong hours lose you the search.

Home Improvement, Hardware, Furniture, & Housewares

image 24 | seo agency for retail

We rank your store page for “sofa store [city]” and your category page for searches like “circular saw [town],” so the shop and the stock both show.

Electronics & Mobile Retail

image 11 | seo agency for retail

We align your product schema, product titles, and local profiles with model-number and “where to buy near me” searches, so you can rank beside the big box.

Beauty, Cosmetics, & Wellness Retail

image 12 | seo agency for retail

We keep your ingredient, brand, and store queries on separate pages, so product SEO and store SEO do not cannibalise the rankings you need.

Sporting Goods & Outdoor Retail

image 13 | seo agency for retail

We build your seasonal category pages and the local pack for “bike shop near me,” and we stop last season’s pages from staying the ones Google crawls.

Jewelry, Watches, & Luxury Retail

image 14 | seo agency for retail

We rank you in the Map Pack for “jeweler in [city]” and build review recency, so Google and shoppers both see a listing they can trust.

Pet Retail & Pet Specialty

image 15 | seo agency for retail

We rank your local pack for “pet store near me” and build category SEO for food and specialty diets, so the shop search and the product search both hit you.

Auto Parts, Tires, & Automotive Retail

image 16 | seo agency for retail

We build your product pages for fitment queries and “tires near me,” and we set GBP categories to that search, not a vague auto label.

Pharmacy, Optical, & Health Retail

image 17 | seo agency for retail

We keep hours, NAP, and review recency identical on your site and profile, so the listing shoppers check before they pick you can rank.

Garden Centres, Nurseries, & Outdoor Living

image 18 | seo agency for retail

We publish seasonal landing pages and tune your weekend “open now” Map Pack, so last spring’s category page is not what ranks for you in autumn.

Franchise & Licensed Retail

image 19 | seo agency for retail

We keep your brand NAP consistent, and we give each franchisee a profile and a location page so Google can rank that store, not only the head office.

Boutique, Vintage, & Specialty Independents

image 20 | seo agency for retail

We rank you on the long-tail and the neighbourhood Map Pack when a chain owns the head term. That is our SEO for retail stores at street level.

Mattress, Flooring, & Big-Ticket Home Retail

image 21 | seo agency for retail

We build comparison and category pages for “best mattress [city]” and showroom queries, and we point them at your store page.

Wine, Spirits, & Specialty Beverage Retail

image 22 | seo agency for retail

We rank your local pack and hours for “wine shop open now,” and we add Product schema on the category pages where the platform allows it.

Bookstores, Toys, & Gift Retail

image 23 | seo agency for retail

We rank your neighbourhood Map Pack and your gift-category pages separately, so you are not asking one homepage to rank the store and the gifts.

Baby, Kids, & Maternity Stores

image 24 | seo agency for retail

We split size, stage, and “near me” onto your store pages and category pages, so each search you want has its own ranking URL.

Kitchen, Bath, & Lighting Showrooms

image 25 | seo agency for retail

We rank your location page for “[city] kitchen showroom” and category pages for the fittings you actually sell, so the showroom and the stock both rank.

Hobby, Craft, & Music Stores

image 26 | seo agency for retail

We build you one page for “guitar shop near me” and another for “polymer clay [city].” We do not merge two different types of searches into one URL.

Appliance & White-Goods Retail

image 27 | seo agency for retail

We write your model-number product pages, rank the showroom in the local pack, and match availability in schema so your rich result stays.

Farm, Feed, & Rural Supply

image 28 | seo agency for retail

We rank your store pages in the towns chains leave thin, and we build category pages for the way your shoppers search feed, parts, and supply.

Bridal, Formalwear, & Occasion Retail

image 29 | seo agency for retail

We rank your boutique in the Map Pack and the occasion category on the site. We do not put you on one generic “dresses” collection.

We’re a fit if you:

  • Run a real retail store, a retail website, or both
  • Will let us edit your website and GBP
  • Want to rank on Google Search and Google Maps
  • Can approve SEO pages in one or two days

We’re NOT a fit if you:

  • Want a guaranteed #1 ranking next week
  • Won’t let us touch your website or GBP
  • Want fake reviews, keyword-stuffed pages, or bought links
  • Have no real product, service, or store

If your specialty is not listed above, do not worry. The SEO method stays the same. Only the keywords, the store pages, and the store-specific approach change.

  • Retail SEO Company Results

Expected Results for SEO Agency for Retail Work

Here is a realistic timeline for Retail SEO Agency Results.

What slows down results

  • A redesign mid-campaign with no redirects

  • Accurate hours, categories, and photos on every GBP from day one
  • Unique store pages already live, or a site we can add them to

  • More reviews in the last 90 days
  • Rankings for the product, category, and “[town]” terms we mapped
  • A report that shows actual numbers

  • Retail SEO Company Problems

Problems We Fix As a Retail SEO Company

As the #1 Retail SEO Company, we exist to fix problems like the Map Pack you do not own, the product and category pages Google will not rank, and the listings Google does not trust. These are the SEO problems we regularly see in retail store audits every month.

Below are some common reasons most retailers search for [SEO Agency for Retail] on Google. If one of these is yours, you need us.

Two extra problems we see now and then

  • Retail SEO Company Do’s & Don’ts

Sorted ROI Do’s and Don’ts for Retail Businesses

Quick answer: As your SEO Agency for Retail, we do the SEO work that moves Maps, category pages, service pages, and product pages. We do not do ranking theatre, fake reviews, or contracts designed to trap a retailer.

You own the assets. You can pause. You can leave. Work we do stays yours.

  • Retail SEO Services Process

SEO Agency for Retail: Our Full Process

Marketing agency Sorted ROI's image of the service page about SEO Agency for Retail showing full process of running Retail SEO Services on sortedroi.com website

Quick answer: At Sorted ROI, our process as the #1 SEO Agency for Retail includes: free strategy call, audit, catalog index control, keyword map, category architecture, store pages, category pages, product pages, product rich results, on-page SEO, internal linking, GBP rebuild, citations, reviews, photos and posts, links, tracking, then a monthly SEO report.

We don’t guess what to do. You will see the keyword map, the crawl, and the profiles. That is how we, as a Retail SEO Company, run our clients’ accounts.

Foundations first. Then fulfill search demand. Then the products and services that make money.

Step 1: Free Strategy call (30 minutes)

You tell us the stores, the catalog, the towns, the categories you want to rank, and what a good month looks like in organic visits and Map Pack actions.

We tell you if a Search Engine Optimization Agency for Retail is the right fit for those searches.

If we cannot help, we say so on this call.

On this call, we also confirm access: website, Google Business Profile (you stay the primary owner on a domain email), Search Console, and GA4. You own every login. We are a manager. We are never the owner.

We start by building your top products or categories by importance and then map SEO to queries you can actually rank and sell.

Step 2: Retail Demand & Competitor Audit

We map the live Google results for your category in your towns.

We look at who owns the Map Pack: their reviews, photos, categories, and store pages. We look at who holds the organic category and product slots. We look at whether Google AI Overviews cite anyone, and whether directories outrank your own name.

Proximity is a local ranking factor, so we run a geo-grid around each store (a 5×5 or 7×7 mile grid), not a single “rank in [city]” number. A store can sit #1 at its own door and #8 three miles south. One city-wide rank number hides that.

Step 3: Technical SEO Audit

We crawl the site. We check index bloat, duplicate product URLs, canonical loops, collection filters, Core Web Vitals, mobile usability, store-locator rendering, HTTPS, and the XML sitemap.

The sitemap should only include live, useful URLs. Filter pages, sort parameters, and dead product URLs should not be in it. A store locator that only paints addresses after JavaScript runs is invisible to Google. That is a common retail SEO miss. We flag it before we write a word of copy.

We sort URLs by crawl waste × ranking potential and hand that list to the next step because a filter URL crawled 4,000 times a week is not a content problem. It is an index problem.

Step 4: Catalog index control

This is the step most agencies skip, and it is the one retail sites need before any new page.

Size, colour, sort, price, and internal search create URLs that should never rank. We set the rules: which category and product URLs stay in the index, which filter URLs are canonicalized or noindex, and which dead SKUs leave the sitemap.

The sitemap only includes live, useful URLs. A store locator that only paints addresses after JavaScript runs is fixed here, or Google never sees the stores.

We do this before we rewrite a category title. Otherwise Google spends its crawl on “red / size 9 / sort by price” and never recrawls the page that should actually rank.

Step 5: Keyword and page map

For keywords and pages, we build three layers:

  1. Map Pack / local — “bike shop near me,” “grocery open now,” “furniture store [neighbourhood].”
  2. Category — “women’s trail running shoes,” “oak dining table,” “organic dog food”
  3. Product — model names, product-type plus brand, modifiers shoppers actually type

Each term gets one primary URL. We do not start a blog calendar and hope Google figures it out.

We weight terms by search intent × how well the page can rank, not by raw volume. A 200-volume local search term your store page can beat a 20,000-search head term a national catalog already owns.

Step 6: Category Architecture

Before anyone writes a word, we lock the tree.

One URL per commercial category. A child page only when the search is actually different (“sofas” vs “leather sofas,” “trail running shoes” vs “wide fit trail running shoes”). Two pages are not allowed to target the same query.

This is how our catalog avoids cannibalisation. Writing copy on a messy tree just ranks the wrong URL.

We check Search Console for queries already split across three URLs and, if needed, merge or canonicalize them.

Step 7: Store/location pages

We write one unique SEO page per real store. URL like example.com/richmond/. H1 with the brand and the place. NAP that matches the Google Business Profile, character for character. Hours. Embedded map. LocalBusiness schema. Internal links to the categories that the store’s page should support. The GBP website field points to this page.

No invented towns. No fake addresses. Real stores get real pages. Fake ones get suspended.

What we still need from you

  • Final hours, including holiday exceptions
  • Photos of the real shop floor
  • Which categories each location should rank for
  • Any stores that have closed, so we can 301 and unpublish

We add two unique facts per store a spinner page would never have: a landmark, a parking note, a category that location is known for. Google has seen millions of “Welcome to our [city] store” intros. Unique local content is the ranking difference.

Step 8: Category pages

We rebuild collection pages so each commercial category has one canonical URL, a real H1, copy that matches the query, and internal links down to the product pages that should rank.

We do not leave the collection as a grid with no text. We do not stuff. We do not mash two search intents onto one URL because the CMS made it easy.

If shoppers add modifiers (“wide fit,” “solid oak,” “hypoallergenic”), those queries need a real landing page, not a filter URL we noindexed. A child category that matches the query is on-page SEO. A faceted URL that Google crawled 4,000 times is not.

Step 9: Product page SEO

We set title rules, unique description rules, variant canonicals, and out-of-stock URL rules.

Priority products get unique copy so Google can tell them apart from the manufacturer PDF.

Out-of-stock is not a 404 if the product returns. We keep the URL, mark availability in schema, and internally link to the in-stock alternative. Dead products get a 301 to the parent category because 404ing a ranking URL donates that query to a competitor.

Step 10: Product rich results

Retail product pages can earn a rich result in Google Search: price, availability, and review markup, when the page qualifies.

We add Product structured data in the HTML. The markup must match what the shopper sees for price, currency, and availability. We validate with Google’s Rich Results Test before we call the template done.

We follow Google Search Central’s Product markup guidelines. If the page and the markup disagree, the rich result drops.

We only mark up pages a shopper can actually buy from. A blog that mentions a product is not a product page.

Step 11: On-page SEO

Titles under 60 characters. One H1. Meta descriptions that match the query. Image alt text that describes the product or the store. The H1 and title match the URL we assigned in the keyword map.

One query, one URL, one H1. If the title says “oak dining tables” and the H1 says “our furniture range,” we fix the H1. Mixed signals are why retail pages sit on page two.

Step 12: Internal linking

The three page types have to point at each other, or Google treats them as separate sites.

Homepage to the categories that should rank. Each category to the priority products. Each store page to the categories that location carries. Product pages back to the parent category. No orphan money page.

We link with the query, not with “click here” or “shop now.” Anchor text is an SEO signal. “Oak dining tables” from the store page beats “view collection.”

Step 13: Google Business Profile rebuild

We claim, verify, and rebuild every eligible store. One profile per real store. Never a fake address. You stay primary owner.

Primary category from what the store should rank for. Secondary categories that are true. Products on the profile. Attributes. Description filled. Cover and interior photos. Website link pointing to the matching location page. Q&A seeded with real shopper questions.

Most GBP impressions come from category searches, not branded queries. We pick the primary category as a ranking lever because a listing set to “Furniture Store” that should rank for mattresses will lose those queries.

Step 14: Citations and NAP

We clean data aggregators first, then local directories, then industry lists.

Same name, same address format, same phone, on the site footer, the location page, and GBP. Old mall units, old phone numbers, and old trading names get suppressed.

The citation NAP must match GBP. A tracking number on citations splits the listing and affects Map Pack rankings. If we track calls, we do it in a way that does not change the NAP Google uses to rank the store.

Step 15: Review collection

We set a review ask after the sale: QR, SMS, or email that points to the Google listing.

Staff never write the reviews. We reply to every review in under 24 hours with a human line.

We ask for reviews on Google first. That is the profile that sits in the Map Pack.

Step 16: Photos, Posts, and Q&A

We upload real store photos and product photos. We post on the profile. We answer Q&A in public.

File names and alt text describe the image (oak-dining-table-showroom-richmond.jpg). Profiles with photos take more clicks. Complete profiles have been measured to get about 7x more clicks than incomplete ones.

In-store photos beat stock photos all the time on the Map Pack. The most recent photo uploaded last year still impacts the listing. We replace dead images the same week we upload new ones.

Step 17: Local links and mentions

We pursue shopping-district pages, chamber listings, local news, supplier pages, and brand store-locator listings.

No blog networks. No “10 best shops” PBNs. No bought links. Google’s guidelines still treat link schemes as a risk.

Brand store-locator / “where to buy” pages are relevant retail links. If you stock a brand, a listing on their store locator is a local, topically relevant backlink. One of those beats twenty homepage directories.

Step 18: Tracking goes live

Search Console verified on the domain. GA4 on the site. GBP insights per location. You own every account.

We watch indexation, query reports, Map Pack actions, and ranking movement. We do not wait until month three to notice a location page is noindex or a profile is unverified.

We report four SEO numbers on the first page: Map Pack actions by store, organic landing pages from Search Console, ranking movement for the mapped terms, and review velocity. If a metric is not a search metric, it does not lead the report.

Step 19: Monthly Report (100% Transparent), and then we scale what ranks

Every month we work a list we already agreed on: pages, posts, citations, photo uploads, review replies, technical fixes.

The report shows ranking movement and GBP actions. Then we pick next month’s SEO from the data. Map Pack can move in weeks. Category SEO needs months. We tell you that on day one. Judging SEO after three weeks is how the work gets abandoned.

We scale pages that are ranking. If “trail running shoes” and Store 3’s Map Pack are moving, those URLs get more internal links, more unique content, more photos, more reviews. Thin pages that cannot rank get pruned or redirected. That is SEO. Not a content calendar.

  • FAQs for Retail SEO Services

Useful FAQs about SEO Agency for Retail

An SEO Agency for Retail is a team that gets your stores, categories, and products ranked on Google Search and Google Maps when shoppers type what you sell. Sorted ROI is that agency. We run the pages, profiles, reviews, schema, links, and tracking.

A Search Engine Optimization Agency for Retail audits demand, fixes the site, builds store and category pages, optimises every Google Business Profile, marks up products, earns local mentions, and reports on rankings and Map Pack actions. It is SEO operations. It is not a monthly blog and a smile.

A Retail SEO Company understands product pages, store locators, Map Pack proximity, NAP, and Product schema. A generic shop often writes articles and buys links. Retail SEO dies on the details: hours, variants, duplicate manufacturer copy, and eight addresses that do not match.

At Sorted ROI, Retail SEO Services start at $699 per month for a focused plan. Custom work for many locations or a large catalog is quoted after the strategy call. Beware of $199/month packages because cheap retainers plus unspoken ranking promises are how both sides end up angry.

GBP and Map Pack can move in weeks. First ranking and enquiry movement often starts showing in 60–90 days in realistic towns. Category and product SEO you can usually start seeing visible results in 4–6 months, then it compounds through months 6–12. Anyone who guarantees page-one in 14 days is selling you a fairytale.

If you have one small shop and a simple offer, a complete GBP does a lot. If you have a catalog or more than one store, you need pages. The profile ranks in Maps. The store, category, and product pages rank in Search.

Yes. Independents often win local pack faster than chains, because the chain’s GBP is stale and the homepage is generic. You have one address, one set of hours, and a neighbourhood you actually know. A Retail SEO Company like ours, uses that.

Yes, if it is a real store with a real address. No, if you are inventing towns. Fake location pages and fake GBPs get punished. Real ones get ranked.

Yes. Platforms are not the strategy. Crawl, templates, schema, and on-page SEO are. We work inside what you have unless the platform is blocking indexation.

Both. Ecommerce SEO is the category and product pages. Local SEO is the store pages and Google Business Profiles. Most retailers need both. We rank the door and the product.

No. We will not make that promise. We will show the work, the timeline, and the ranking numbers.

Yes. You own all the assets and the data. That is non-negotiable. If an agency ever says the accounts have to live in their login, walk away.

A single Retail SEO Expert can be excellent on one slice: Maps, or technical, or content. Sorted ROI runs the full stack as a Retail SEO Agency: technical, local, product pages, on-page, links, AI Overviews, reporting. If you only need a Retail SEO Consultant or a Retail SEO Specialist for a one-off audit, say so on the call. We will tell you if that is enough.

You can do the basics. Most owners start themselves and can’t keep on doing it for months consistently. A Search Engine Optimization Agency for Retail is the system that does not forget. We also know what gets listings suspended, what a thin store page looks like to Google, and how to read Search Console and GBP Insights. You run the shop. We build the stronger online presence. That is the deal.
